Until its foundation in 1913, medical care for women in India was limited to that provided by missionaries or charities like the Countess of Dufferin Fund. Numerous studies show that, generally, women deal with more health issues than men. Women have many conditions to watch out for, including osteoporosis, menopause, and mental health. However, one should always know that there are several things women may take to shield themselves from contracting any health condition. Women occupied select ranks of medical personnel during the period. They worked as herbalists, midwives, surgeons, barber-surgeons, nurses, and traditional empirics.
