| Paper TitleEVALUATION OF HUMAN CAPITAL ON ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE: A STRUCTURAL EQUATION MODELING APPROACHAbstractThe purpose of this research article is to examine the relationship between human capital (HC) practices and organizational performance. Research over the years, has established significantly a positive correlation between HC practices and organizational performance. Though this research theme has been extensively researched in developed countries, very limited research has been done in the prevailing HCM scenario obtained in developing economies, especially in India. Hence, this article attempts to study the relationship and fill this research gap. The assumption underpinning the practice of HCM is that people are the organization’s key resource and organizational performance largely depends on them. Therefore, if an appropriate range of HC policies and processes are developed and implement effectively, HC will make a substantial impact on organizational performance. However, the majority of the pharmaceutical companies in Hyderabad are yet to catch the HCM unapproachable. The objectives of the study were to analyse and examine the HC indicators in the pharmaceutical companies, evaluate the perceptions of employees on HC practices and programmes of the Pharmaceutical companies and establish the impact of properly managing human capital on the organizational performance of these Pharmaceutical companies. This study surveyed eight pharmaceutical companies in Hyderabad with total respondents of 596 made up of managerial employees and non-managerial employees. The response rate was 83.89 percentages which represented 112 managerial employees and 388 non-managerial employees. A two-stage structural equation modeling (SEM) has been used to study this relationship by using LISREL 8.5 by maximum likelihood method. In the first stage, the proposed measurement model is validated through confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and, in the second, the structural model examines the hypothesized relationship between the HC practices and organizational performance. It is found that the two are positively related. The findings of this study strengthen existing literature in the area and have important implications for managers engaged in HC functions and it also shows that the enormous benefits of properly managing human capital through which competitive advantage could be created in the pharmaceutical companies. | Paper TitleHMTV ‘ANDHRA PRADESH - DASHA DISHA’: TELEVISION JOURNALISM WITH PEOPLE’S PARTICIPATION AND ITS IMPACT ON TELANGANA MOVEMENTAbstractWhen the Telangana separate statehood movement was in the peak stage in 2009, a live interactive debate programme ‘Andhra Pradesh Dasha Disha’ was broadcasted by HMTV news channel. On 9th December of the same year then Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram announced the central government’s decision to create a separate state of Telangana State. It lead to the vertical split in the state congress party, and scores of MLAs and MPs resigned vowing that the division was not acceptable to them. Tension prevailed as the students from various universities in Andhra and Rayalaseema took to the streets and attacked the Congress. With the \'altered\' situation in the state, the Centre back-tracked on its decision and called for a wide range of political consultations. On hearing this, students in Telangana went on a rampage. About 17 pro-Telangana students launched fast unto death before the Osmania University Arts College building. In those dark and uncertain times, HMTV called for a live debate with politicians, intellectuals and students with the tagline \'do not raise your voice, improve your argument.\' Starting on 20 December 2009, it conducted debates in 22 districts of Andhra Pradesh apart from the opening session in Hyderabad. The study assays the impact of these marathon debates on Telugu society and how journalism with people\'s participation will help resolve the social issues amicably.
