THE STUDY OF ENVIRONMENTAL PREVENTION AND CONTROL OF POLLUTION TO UNDERSTAND THE NEED FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Abstract

India being a growing economy has seen flourishing industrialization and development in recent past, which resulted in contrary impact on the environment. Witnessing such deprivation, the Supreme Court of India in a bid to safeguard the environment, played a substantial role in shaping and adopting the doctrine of Sustainable Development. This crusade for safeguarding the environment was led by Justice Kuldip Singh, who famously came to be known as the \'Green Judge\'. The doctrine of Sustainable Development was implemented by the Supreme Court in the case of Vellore Citizen Welfare Forum vs. Union of India2. The Petitioners therein had filed a petition in public interest under Article 32 of the Constitution of India against the pollution caused by discharge of untreated effluent by the tanneries and other industries in the river Palar in the State of Tamil Nadu. In the instant case, the Supreme Court held that the precautionary principle and polluter pays principle are a part of the environmental law of India. The court also held that: \"Remediation of the damaged environment is part of the process of \'Sustainable Development\' and as such polluter is liable to pay the cost to the individual sufferers as well as the cost of reversing the damaged ecology.\"

CUSTOMER PREFERENCES FOR APPARELS CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT

Abstract

Customer Relationship Management is a comprehensive approach for creating, maintaining and expanding customer relationships”. However, in small street vendor’s businesses customer relationships is not a widely considered strategy. The customer relationship management (CRM) adoption process in small business of street vendors is an under-researched area and the purpose of this paper is to extend the knowledge and offer greater understanding of the CRM adoption process through an empirical study in the Mumbai. The aim of the study is to determine which practices in customer relationship management are used by small street businesses in Mumbai City and also particularly bring out the most effective practice that influence customers shopping decision. Indian apparel retail sector is booming, leading to intense competition. The war is to attract new customers but most importantly to retain the old ones. The companies are tailoring CRM initiatives to increase their customer base. The role customer point is crucial in maintaining long term profitable relationships with the customers. This research attempts to study various touch points related to apparel retailing. The study aims at establishing the importance of customer touch points in CRM.

Abstract

Transformational leadership is distinguished from transactional leadership in that it aims at innovation, while the latter is focused on planning and execution. This leadership tends to improve the team\'s morale and motivates the team members. In summation, a transformational leader is able to motivate his followers, to strive for excellence without the use of power or authority, by inspiring them through his passion and deep thinking. In contrast with a transformational leader, a transactional leader accomplishes goals by rewarding employees who meet expectations. These rewards come in the form of recognition, pay increases, and advancement. In this paper attempted to demonstrate that transformation style of leadership is far more effective than transactional leadership.

Abstract

Organizational learning can be considered as a transformation of organization knowledge.As the organizations change continuously, the concept of Learning has taken emphasizes in the recent decades.There is a need to organizations to equip its employees with the upcoming knowledge and technological advancements. At the same time the employee’s job satisfaction plays a major role in improving the work performance.This article attempts to examine the relationship among three variables- organizational learning, job satisfaction and work performance by choosing a sample of 100 employees working in IT sector. The findings show a positive relationship among the above variables.

For gaining a competitive edge managing cultural differences has become more imperative.It affects the productivity and efficiency of the workforce in general. There is need for organizations to manage a diversified workforce through Human resource practices. The article aims to focus on the practices and strategies being adopted by companies for managing workforce diversity. Newspaper articles, surveys, and diversity reports and the company websites were used to trace the diversity management practices.

IMPACT OF DEMONETIZATION ON SELECT NSE SECTORAL INDICES

Abstract

On 8th November 2016, Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has made on historical decision called “currency demonetization” which would be a memorable experience and sort out event of our time to share with coming generations as its impact was felt by every citizen of India. Demonetization means termination of agreement that 500 rupees and 1000 notes will no longer act a legal tender of the country. Demonetization has different perceptions to different people; like liquidity crunch, decrease in consumption, and decrease in investment, staggered production, increased inflation, and increased unemployment from point of view of analysis and economists were in from point of view of government it means decrease in black money and counterfeit currency, to fight against corruption and to paralyze the terror funding agencies etc. The current paper focuses on how the industrial sector indices were moved and related with each other during pre and post demonetization period by using descriptive statistics and correlation.

ADDITION OF STEEL AND POLYPROPYLENE TO STRENGTH PROPERTIES OF FIBROUS SELF COMPACTING CONCRETE

Abstract

This paper gives a review on Self Compacting Concrete (SCC) to be made using various Mineral Admixtures and Fibers. In current scenario of construction industries due to demand in the construction of large and complex structures, which often leads to difficult concreting conditions. For the adoption of any new material or technology, it generally needs proven performance record over traditional materials. Considerable research is carried out in India, towards the technology development so that Self Compacting Concrete (SCC) could soon find a place in the Indian construction industry. In the present work, experimental investigation is carried out on the strength properties of fibrous SCC with triple blending. Fly ash and condensed silica fume (CSF) are both employed as replacement to cement at various percentages to give triple blending. By doing this kind of triple blending it is expected to derive the beneficial properties of both the mineral admixtures. Concrete mixture of grade M40 is designed and tried for the SCC. Steel fibres of different aspect ratios ranging from 10–20 are tried along with polypropylene fibres of 12 mm length. SCC mixtures with various combinations were tested for workability, compressive strength, split tensile strength and flexural strength. Comparisons are made. Based on the experimental investigation carried out in the present work, important and practically useful conclusions are drawn.

Abstract

A sale is the pinnacle activity involved in selling products or services in return for money or other compensation. It is an act of completion of a commercial activity. A sale is completed by the seller or the provider of the goods or services to an acquisition or appropriation or request followed by the passing of title (property or ownership) in the item and the application and due settlement of a price, the obligation for which arises due to the seller\'s requirement to pass ownership, being a price he is happy to part with ownership of or any claim upon the item. The purchaser, though a party to the sale does not execute the sale, only the seller does that. To be precise the sale completes prior to the payment and gives rise to the obligation of payment. If the seller completes the first two above stages (consent and passing ownership) of the sale prior to settlement of the price, the sale is still valid and gives rise to an obligation to pay. A service is the intangible equivalent of a good. Service provision is often an economic activity where the buyer does not generally, except by exclusive contract, obtain exclusive ownership of the thing purchased. The benefits of such a service, if priced, are held to be self-evident in the buyer’s willingness to pay for it. Public services are those society pays for as a whole through taxes and other means. By composing and orchestrating the appropriate level of resources, skill, ingenuity, and experience for effecting specific benefits for service consumers, service providers participate in an economy without the restrictions of carrying stock (inventory) or the need to concern themselves with bulky raw materials. On the other hand, their investment in expertise does require consistent service marketing and upgrading in the face of competition which has equally few physical restrictions. Many so-called services, however, require large physical structures and equipment, and consume large amounts of resources, such as transportation services and the military.
