ARAVIND ADIGA’S SOCIAL ASPECTS IN SELECT NOVELS – A STUDY

Abstract

In post-modern Indian English literature, Arvind Adiga is one the greatest novelists and authors who depict the root of Indian, known as Indian divers culture including multiculturalism, counter-culture, cross-culture, youth culture etc. In the selected fiction such as The White Tiger and Between the Assassination, Arvind Adiga has depicted the real pictures and the condition of socio-cultural aspects through various characters. These studies find out the socio-cultural and present the relevant to socio-cultural aspects in his selected fiction. The entire fiction focuses on the socio-cultural conflict and social status through humour and Irony. There is a very vast gap between rich and poor, the ruling class and the working class, suppressive and suppressed. Some poor and working-class people who are restless to change the society directly oppose the norms and shackles of suppressive. Often they are failed but sometimes they are succeeded so this whole process is known as a protest. Often the protagonist of the novel protests against social boundaries and taboos and the whole story revolves around his story. Arvind Adiga is famous for his Booker Prize-winning book The White Tiger. He has written two other novels and a short story collection Between the Assassinations. Abstract

Writing in the local color style concentrates on highlighting the characteristics and quirks of a certain area and its people. In a narrative work, whether it a drama, book, play, television series, or film, a character is a person. Characters in a narrative work might be classified as round, flat, minor, or main based on their actions. An antagonist is a character who opposes the protagonist, who is often referred to as the main character in a novel. Because they are the vehicle through which a reader engages with a work of literature, characters are immensely important. The technique via which a writer gives the characters their personality is called characterization. The most significant and unforgettable component of books is their characters. Characters in regional settings often care more about the district\'s or region\'s character than they do about the individual. Characters may develop into archetypes, which are sometimes clichéd or outdated and are characterized by a manner of life that emphasizes the past.

Abstract

The Nayak Podu (Naikpod) tribe is an ancient indigenous community in Telangana, India, with a rich cultural and historical heritage. This article explores their origins, historical migration, religious and social practices, and contemporary challenges. The Nayak Podus trace their ancestry to prehistoric times, with cultural connections to early global tribal communities. Their religious beliefs are deeply rooted in ancestral worship, mythology, and sacred cave sites. Socially, they maintain a structured hierarchy, preserving traditions through storytelling, rituals, and unique customs. However, modern challenges such as loss of land, lack of education, and socio-political marginalization threaten their cultural identity. This study aims to document their legacy, providing insights into their traditional practices, governance, and evolving way of life.
