| Paper TitleJANE AUSTEN’S EMMA AND PRESENT DAY WOMAN A STUDY ON UNCHANGED SOCIETY EVEN AFTER CENTURIESAbstractThe portrayal of life in a conservative, pastoral setting, and kaleidoscopic breadth of social class, educational background and marital status among the female characters present a social commentary on the inadequacies of the education women received. Against such a rich backdrop, Austen redefines female education by arguing that a holistic form of learning such as Emma Wood house’s journey of auto-didacticism trumps a formal schooling which only aims to ensnare a useful marriage. The re-reading of the her Emma by the generations to generations reveal a secret that there is no change in terms of treating woman in the society for which many organizations fighting for. In this light, the present paper presents a comparative study of the circumstances and atmosphere prevailed during 18th century and in 21st century by reading Jane Austen’s novel, Emma. Gender discrimination, waves of feminism, championing the plights of woman and many other movements in global society continuously waged war against such situations. The girls narrate their life stories in alternating chapters. The book follows Sudha and Anju through childhood, adolescence, and early adulthood. Free society, sexual freedom, cohabitation, neglect of parents and elders are unheard of in India, and when an Indian immigrant woman makes an encounter with such factors in America, she is shaken mentally and cultural conflict crops up in her resulting in a quandary in which she remains indecisive. This study explores the factors influencing user satisfaction in university libraries across India, focusing on the perceptions and experiences of students, faculty, and researchers. Using a mixed-methods approach, data were collected through surveys and interviews to assess user satisfaction levels, identify key drivers of satisfaction, and examine areas for improvement. The findings highlight the importance of access to electronic resources, library facilities, staff competence, and responsiveness in shaping user satisfaction. The study discusses implications for library management, including strategies for enhancing service delivery, improving information literacy programs, and leveraging technology to meet evolving user needs. By understanding and addressing these factors, university libraries can better align their resources and services with the expectations and requirements of their diverse user base, ultimately enhancing user satisfaction and engagement.
